What’s On for 2026?

  • The 2023 Beer and Burgers community dinner was a great hit, so it is back!!!  September 12th, 2026 from 11am to 2pm come enjoy a tasty grilled burger! Served on a warm bun with all the condiments you could ask for. We also have our Director’s super special potato salad, watermelon, dill pickle and a non-alcoholic beverage for only $12 pre-ordered, $15 at the door. If you are a hungry, hungry person add an extra brat for $5 or if you are more like our peeps add a beer for $8 (because beer is a food group too! It’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!) Why wait for Oktoberfest? September is close enough :).
  • Venue Area– Watch the finish line in front of bandstand and enjoy the music stage in an area with room to set up chairs
  • Course improvements – Racers will ride on the Pine-Strawberry trail reroutes for improved scenery (if you dare look up) and less rocks.
  • 45 Mile Race Option – If you register for the 45 mile race but decide during the race that you bit off more than you can chew, you can ride to the finish after 2 laps and we will change your registration to the 30 mile race and include you with the 30 mile finishers.

 Camping

You can reserve camping in the arena adjacent to the barn for the weekend (4P Friday – 4P Sunday).  We only have 15 spaces available, so they are on a first-come first-served basis.

Also, free camping is available in the Tonto National Forest about a mile south of the race starting line.  The turnoff to this area is to the west about 1/10 of a mile north of Hwy 87 mile post 266 – look for the big yellow feather flag.  You are in the right area if you see a water bladder after crossing a cattle guard. Follow any of the dirt roads leaving the large open parking area to locate a camping spot.

Note that this is not an established campground.  Portable restrooms and a hand wash station will be placed in the area Friday afternoon for your use. Be sure to check the Pine-Strawberry Fire Department for fire restrictions prior to your arrival.

There is a bike path from the camping area to the barn & starting line that is just over a mile long that will be marked with yellow ribbons.  This path goes through private property, which is marked with a sign.  We have obtained passage permission for FOTR participants and spectators only.  Motorized vehicles and camping are prohibited on the private property.

Course Pre-Rides

  • The complete course will be marked and open for pre-rides on August 29 & 30 and September 5 & 6.  These are not organized rides. All the private land will be open for riding so do it all at once or practice sections of the course and take it at your own pace.
  • Start and finish is on Bradshaw Drive west of Old County Road in Pine, where all the events are happening (see map above).
  • A section of the course on top of Strawberry Mountain is private ranch land and will be open ONLY for the pre-ride dates and the race.  To ride most of the course at any other time, you can bypass the private land by taking FR 428 (Hardscrabble) all the way to Fossil Creek Rd and turning right into Strawberry.  With a map of Strawberry you can pick the course back up at the corner of Fuller & Ralls Rd. You can even backtrack up the mountain from there to the ranch fence to pre-ride the downhill.  Otherwise just continue on toward Hwy 87 and head south to the Strawberry Trailhead for the single track.
  • Pre-rides are not part of the organized event; it’s an opportunity for individuals to review the racecourse on their own. Riders assume complete liability for their own safety.

Pets are not allowed on the racecourse. Pets are allowed at the venue/barn and in the Tonto National Forest.  However, dogs must be kept on a leash not exceeding 6 in length.
