All six of Arizona’s National Forest has gone into early Stage 2 Fire Restrictions and Gila County has issued a County Wide Burn Ban.
This ban is for all fire causing activity outside; campfires, charcoal or wood fires for cooking, tools without spark arrestors, outdoors welding, torches, target shooting, fireworks, smoking etc. You may use propane BBQ’s, cook stoves, lanterns, etc. If you can turn it on and off, they are ok to use.
The early Stage 2 Fire Restrictions were initially put into place for the protection of public health and safety during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Firefighters come from all over the country and camp in close quarters to fight these wildfires. The assembly of wildland firefighters engaging in suppression efforts becomes a public health concern.
However, we are also experiencing an increase in drying trends of extreme grass fuel loads resulting from above-average winter moisture.
