Bridges and Tuneup on Trail 15 Re-Route

A Trail Work crew of about seven volunteers did some more work on the reroute section above the Mohawak trailhead section of Trail 15 in Pine. With one more work session, this should be connected to the main trail.

Part of us working on building a crossing of a seeping and middy drainage, using a giant slab of sandstone pulled out of the ground by our NAU student crew helpers last month.

On today’s PS Trails work on Trail 15, we channeled this drainage and then used a big sandstone slab as a bridge.

Up the hill a tree was moved from the trail, and many rocks, logs, and maybe a hundred buckets of dirt was hauled to build a stable curved section where before the ground was too soft and full of duff.

The stump from the tree is now a marker

Our team moved a lot of large boulders to armor the trail edge.

If you want to join in on the fun like the folks in the photo below had, come out for our next work session on Trail 15 on Saturday May 27, 9am – 1pm at the Mohawk Drive access.
