Fuel Reduction Project
of the Krebs Property
We are currently co-oping the cost of thinning and cleaning most of the 79 acres in the center of Pine owned by Lois Krebs. Following is a slide show of the property in the beginning stages of thinning. These were taken during a tour of the property on Jan 9, 2010 conducted by Mike Brandt of the Pine Strawberry Fire Dept.
An incineration box will be brought on-site to burn the waste slash to save man-power and money. It is designed to consume the slash quickly and cleanly, thereby keeping smoke and pollutants to an acceptable minimum.
The usable firewood will be partially retained by the Krebs family and the remaining is to be donated to the local churches to distribute to needy families.
As you can see in the pictures, the foilage is so thick it is difficult to walk through. Once the thinning and cleanup is completed, it will look like a city park and will be manageable in case of a fire. When that is accomplished, we will have another slide show of the area for comparison.
